Lo Ting - Liu Tu. Li Seu Ling has captured 4 and killed over

10 brigands in this district. He attacked them by night

when they were off their guard. 72 Hang Shang Pao 7. Samehui. Some 100 brigands, disguised as soldiers, entered

one of the villages, broke into over 80 houses, and carri -ed off one man and some cattle. Taung Shang Hui Pao 9.

Shih Tzu Tao Li Yu Sha. On the oth. a ferry-boat was

pirated. The pirates extorted some hundreds of dollars and carried off one man. 72 Hang Shang Pao 14. Chao Ch'ing - Tung An. From the latter place comes a tele- -gram stating that there are over 200 brigands in the district. They have swept the place clean and the merchant volunteers dare not face them. 72 Hang Shang

Pao 18.

Yang Ch'un. On the 16th. over a thous and brigands appeared,

carried off over 200 men and women, stole several hundred cattle and killed seven persons. Min Kuo Pao 25.

Te Ching. On the 10th. instant some 70 brigands burnt 10

houses, killed over 10 persons and carried off 7. Al- -though there were some 500 trops in the neighbourhood, they were too frightened to attack. Hin Kuo Pao 31. Tung Kuan.- Nan Sha She. On the 26th. September, over 100
